Kansas City Comets

Cold Winter Nights may be coming to an end, but the temperature is continuing to rise for your Kansas City Comets! On March 11, 2022, the Comets secured themselves a post-season birth with an 8-6 over the Milwaukee Wave. The Comets are now in the 2022 Ron Newman Cup Playoffs!

During this game, there was history made on the turf. Kansas City Comets player/coach/captain and all-around Mr. Comet Leo Gibson became KC’s All-Time Leading Goal Scorer! Going into the contest Leo had 279 goals for the Comets. The Kansas City record belonged to Wes Wade who played for the Comets and the KC Attack from 1993 to 2004. Six years after Wade’s time in Kansas City, Leo Gibson first suited up in our town. From 2010 to 2022 Leo has now scored 281 goals making him the indoor soccer scoring King of Kansas City! Leo Gibson is a joy to watch and all of us here at OKKC Sports applauds him as a player, coach, all-time leading scorer, and overall wonderful ambassador for Kansas City Soccer overall!

The Comets are now preparing for their final home game. Military Appreciation night Sunday, April 3rd against the St. Louis Ambush with the game starting at 4:00pm. The Comets jerseys will be auctioned off after the game with proceeds going to Team Fidelis.

Once the regular season is wrapped up, the playoff schedule will be announced. Check back here with OKKC sports early and often and we will keep you updated on the Comets playoff schedule. Get out there on Sunday and support your hometown team for their regular-season home match finale. After that, it is all eyes on the playoffs as we hope to bring yet another title to Kansas City. The new Title Town U.S.A.!
